Description

Important announcement

(Updated on 05.11.2026)

The Contracting Authority has decided to extend the deadline for the receipt of tenders under Lot 1 in order to give all Member States the necessary time to complete their national budgetary procedures and submit financial commitments. This extension does not apply to Lot 2.

  • The new deadline for receipt of tenders for Lot 1 is set on 4 February 2027 at 17h00 (Europe/Luxembourg).
  •  The deadline for receipt of tenders for Lot 2 remains set on 3 December 2026 at 17h00 (Europe/Luxembourg).

Please be aware that for technical reasons all submissions currently in the system – draft and submitted tenders – will not be considered, irrespective of the lot for which they have been prepared. All draft/submitted tenders recreated and resubmitted under the new submission links. The Contracting Authority will announce in the next few days the new submission links both for Lot 1 and Lot 2 immediately after the technical solution is in place.

We strongly encourage you not to work further on the current drafts and wait for the instructions regarding the new submission links.

Please be reminded that only the submission links will be altered. The content of the already published call documents is not affected.

Summary of the call

AIGFs should aim to provide a world-class sovereign AI computing infrastructure for European researchers, public authorities, entrepreneurs, industries, and SMEs. They shall strengthen the European industry, enable the development of entirely new AI solutions, strengthen the European AI value chains in both software and hardware, and ensure the EU's competitiveness and sovereignty as an AI Continent. To achieve this, they will integrate massive AI computing power, together with energy-efficient data centres, and AI-driven automation to optimise AI model training, inference, and services deployment.

To qualify as an AIGF, each facility must integrate at least three to four times the number of the most advanced AI processors currently available in the most powerful European AI factories. In addition to computational scale, AIGFs must demonstrate adequate power capacity infrastructure and incorporate best practices in energy efficiency, water efficiency, and circularity principles in their design and operations.
