The Gaia AI Factory project aims to establish a cutting-edge AI Factory in Poland, creating a robust infrastructure to support the development of advanced artificial intelligence solutions. The project responds to the growing demand for large-scale AI infrastructure in Europe. It aligns with the goals of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking to strengthen Europe’s capabilities in trustworthy AI. Gaia AI Factory is not just a computing infrastructure - it acts as a collaboration platform for researchers, businesses, and public institutions, supporting technology transfer into practice, education, and the development of digital skills through training, workshops, and mentoring.
Gaia AI Factory is developed through a multidisciplinary consortium of leading research institutions, technology partners, and domain experts from Poland: Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH (coordinator); within the framework of the PLGrid infrastructure. The consortium partners cover the entire geographical area of Poland. Faculty of Space Technologies, AGH University of Krakow (AGH WTK); Wrocław Centre for Networking and Supercomputing, Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WCSS); Centre of Informatics Tricity Academic Supercomputer and Network (CI TASK), Gdansk University of Technology; National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ); The Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling at the University of Warsaw (ICM UW); NASK National Research Institute (NASK-PIB); National Information Processing Institute (OPI PIB); Sano Centre for Computational Personalised Medicine (Sano); Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University (MCB UJ); Institute of Mother and Child (IMiD); Krakow Technology Park.
The Gaia AI Factory will collaborate with PIAST and LUMI AI Factories to create an integrated AI ecosystem in Central Europe.
