Leveraging the experience, infrastructure, and scientific insights generated through the SkincAIr project (GA: 101190743), SKINGEN-X aims to push the boundaries of dermatological AI by developing ethically-grounded, clinically-validated, and fully explainable Generative AI (GenAI) models optimised for exascale EuroHPC environments. The project focuses on creating advanced generative modelling pipelines to accelerate research, diagnosis, and understanding of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) affecting the skin, a domain where data scarcity, geographical inequity, and clinical variability remain major barriers to innovation. By extending SkincAIr’s foundations with high-performance GenAI capabilities, SKINGEN-X will enable the production of high-quality synthetic datasets, foundation models, and decision-support tools that can meaningfully contribute to global health research and improve diagnostic support in under-resourced environments.
